Approach
Your pre-trip inspection begins as you approach the bus. During your evaluation you will likely already be at the front of the bus when the examiner explains what is expected of you. It is important that you make sure you fully understand these expectations before you begin. When you indicate you are ready to begin the evaluation will start. This is where you will be performing a general inspection of the overall condition of the vehicle.
“As I approach the bus I am checking the overall condition. What I am looking for is any indication of a major problem like the bus leaning to one side or the other, indicating the possibility or a broken spring or other suspension component. I am also looking under the bus for puddles that might indicate a coolant or fluid leak. There should also be nothing hanging down or other sign of damage”
